Tips From The Brain Of An Amazon FBA Seller

I would say being an Amazon FBA Seller is anything but, basic.  The perks of owning your own business also, comes with lots of headaches as well as, investing a fair share of your money. This is not said to discourage you but, you may be putting in forty hour weeks plus and, getting pennies if anything. Most sellers have a full time job while they are building up their Amazon business. Not having a full time job while building my Amazon business was a huge mistake on my part. Unless you have $50,000 you can invest right away and, not be hurt financially by investing this money you have some serious things to consider. If you are living on your own I strongly recommend staying at your job and, keep Amazon as a side hustle. Unfortunately, we all need money to survive and, this becomes a problem when you are starting a business that you will not make profit off of quickly. This is said for most businesses, it takes five years to actually see a profit. I am on my third year and, oh boy, is that accurate. I need many side hustles like Freelancing to make money and, most of my money gets invested back in Amazon. Frustration does not even describe how you feel when you watch all your money go back into your business and, you are silently crying on the inside. On one hand you know you are feeding your business to help you in the future and, on the other hand it’s like where did all my money go. You will 100% question yourself and, don’t expect friends and, family to be supportive at first they will think you’re literally sitting around doing nothing all day. Especially, as an FBA seller when you ship out your boxes to Amazon they won’t see your hustle all the time and, you’re working mainly from home so, defiantly keep that in mind. The mental questioning really gets to you at some points but, that’s when you realize you are building a business and, it’s not easy. If building a business was easy everyone would be doing it instead, of working for other people. You will need mental clarity so, I suggest going to the gym, local coffee shop, moving outside to work on your porch , lots of music, watching a show while working and, walks. I try to get out of the house daily because you will go stir crazy.. The re-seller community is amazing on instagram and, they are a constant score of encouragement and, tips. The amount of gold they drop everyday on instagram is amazing!

Okay, onto the actual Amazon business. You need to get approved to sell on Amazon and, you will automatically be approved to sell books but, you must look up categories in the help and, ask for approval. They are cracking down on Amazon sometimes you have to pay to be approved for a certain category and, you most likely will not be able to sell brands like Nike which,  you would have to have gotten grandfathered into. Yes, this is a pain in the ass and, can really mess with you especially if you have clothing or, shoes you are trying to sell of a really popular name brand. Clothes & Shoes must be new if, you want to sell use clothing head over to ebay or, Poshmark because Amazon would probably kick you off and, you’d need to wait six months to get back on. Amazon will not hesitate to ban you if, you try to sell a restricted item etc. so, you need to make sure you are unrestricted before you even try to sell in a category other than books. Oh, and you are restricted from selling collectible books you have to get unrestricted in this category or, you books will be sitting collecting dust. You have to get unrestricted in DVDs, VHS, etc.. yup, they restrict you in basically everything. And, for most of these items you must have wholesale invoice they don’t except store receipts so yea, you may be restricted for awhile until you have a solid wholesaler that you purchase from.  Being an FBA seller is challenging but, can be worth it especially with ROI for books!

Things I forgot to consider when pricing my items are the fees that I will be taking on when selling this specific item. You have the fee for Amazon about $49.95/mo. Scanpower $69.95/mo. if you use it regularly every month I have been having to pay $0 which, means I need to get more books haha ( Insert monkey with hands over the eyes), $228 for AsellerTool/6months, the shipping fee for the items and, the percentage Amazon takes plus, the cost of the item. Yeah, it is a bit much and, can be a bit frustrating to have all these fees you are paying for. You also, need the scanners to actually figure how much the cost of the item is; see this link for a detailed explanation

( http://thatsabang.com/?p=511    ). This is why it has taken me three years to kind of catch up with my business because in equipment I’ve spent over $1,044 in equipment. To some people that is not a lot of money to me that took awhile to pay off plus, ink, paper, printer ( I recently got a new one a laser printer) and, the labels for the dymo label printer ( thank goodness this does not need ink!). Now take the fees that you pay for the year $599.4 (Amazon), $839.40 ( ScanPower), ASellertool ( $456) = $1,894.8 a year in just fees. This does not include the whammy of the storage fee that you get hit with if you items are over 365 days old I think this happens twice a year. You really have to keep up with this because you could spend even more money keeping your inventory at Amazon instead of sending it back to you. Unfortunately, this hit me kind of hard this year and, everytime UPS came with boxes and, boxes of books my heart sank and, I had mini panic attacks ( I still live with my parents for the time being and, they were not pleased to have the boxes in their house but, I don’t think they realized how displeased I was to have to pay to ship books/items sent back to me haha). This is why I emphasize knowing what categories you can sell in because sometimes they just hit you with sorry, you are now restricted in that category, ( learn from my mistakes!).  I will also, go into how important rank is in a minute so, hold on. You need to keep all these fees in mind when you’re pricing your item but, you also have to keep your pricing competitive.

Some FBA Sellers will make you very, very angry because the book could be worth $40 and, they’ll have it for $10. This happens so much it’s incredible how annoying some of the sellers are and, I don’t understand because they are barely making any money if any. Price wisely as, you don’t want to piss off other sellers but, you also, don’t want to price too high. Here is what I would normally do for very good or, good the new price would get slashed in half and, that’s how much I would price it at. If it’s ex-library or, acceptable condition I divide the price by 3. I will give you an example below because it sounds more complicated than it is.

Okay, so here is an example of a book that I have and, this is where you wil get 100% frustrated. This ranking is extremely good at over 800,000. That means for every 800,00 books purchased this book sells. The lower the rank the better! Now, you see that new the price is around $74 and, normally I would price my book used good or used very good at about $35. But, instead we have sellers who don’t understand the value of the book and, they priced it in the $9-$11 range. I don’t know who they think they are helping but, it’s not themselves… Right now, to make any money off of a book the lowest you can have it at is $10 becuase the fees went up as they do every year. Here is a prime example of how you should not price your books as a FBA Seller. FBA Seller’s are paying a fee for a reason; there are storage fees but, it’s also, to have Amazon Prime ( Two Day free shipping), available to your sellers. You can also, look at camel,camel,camel to see how often the item or book sells and, the range of prices they sell for. Okay, now into rank.. Oh my, rank can be a big problem because you want the lowest rank possible for a quick turnover. But, on the other hand you can luck out and, get a high ranking book that sells in a couple of months.. Ranking gives me a headache because I do gamble sometimes for books that I will make a large profit on and, the ranking is very high. In my experience it is not worth it look for low ranks because you want the fastest turn over as possible especially, when you are just starting out. Do not ignore the rank! Yes, when you are at a book sale you have to be able to look at the rank and, calculation of how much you will make off of the book in a matter of seconds. Most sellers know what their criteria is and, have their scanners set to beep if the book meets these standards. I personally don’t do this because I may miss a book that I can make a quick buck off of. It’s really up to the seller as, it is their preference.

Motivational Speech

Hello everyone,

I felt like writing a bit of a motivational speech for you all part of my motivational Mondays. This is new so it may take me a couple of posts to define what, “Motivational Monday,” really is. I watched a movie the other day and, it really inspired me to write a little something to hopefully get you all thinking, moving and, motivated through life! Please let me know if there is a motivational topic that you want me to cover in the comments below.

This is a box, it’s square, has it’s own dimensions and, can fit things in it. It is mainly used for storage, shipping and, comes in a brown color. Now look at your box what do you want in your box, what does the box mean to you? Have you kept the box an, actual box or, stepped out of the box and, made it into something. Is it a rocket ship, time machine, table or, have you developed your box into a new item. Is the box a new invention, did it change colors? If every business owner thought in their box, they would never be able to develop a new product or, invent a completely new idea! So, step out of the box and, fail as many times as you need to find your one success. We now know the Earth isn’t flat and, that Thomas Edison failed many times before the invention of the light bulb. If you are too afraid to venture outside of your box or, society’s box, a new invention will never be created and, you will not reach your fullest potential. So, strive for greatness and make the box anything you want it to be!

Fitness Update & Cleaning Up My Eating

Hello Loves,

I have been pursuing my fitness journey for some time now. I have been going to the gym and, working out at home. I have slacked a bit on working out at home which is something I am trying to get together. I just cleaned my beautiful room so, I will be able to do a lot more workouts. I am thinking that I will put together a little food plan for myself to have my meals all ready and, switch up the workouts every week. I think February is when I will start my swimming back up which will be a process and, I will probably start small like can I swim straight for 5 minutes which sounds ridiculous but, it will take me awhile to build my swimming stamina back up. Today will be my planning day since I got a lot accomplished over this weekend which, allows me the time to plan a bit. I have been resting quite a bit this weekend as well because I felt that I needed. It is also, hard to get sleep sometimes when pet sitting so, I would wake up let the dog out feed it and, then sleep a little more. Amazon Raises FBA Fees

Ciao Tutti,

Amazon just released there fee changes for 2017 and, Amazon FBA sellers are freaking out… Now, it does change a few things when it comes to selling as an FBA seller but, they change their fees every year. Amazon is trying to weed out the FBA sellers that aren’t committed to really selling on Amazon and, honestly I couldn’t be happier. Although, I am not that thrilled about the fees which, I don’t think any seller is, it just changes how I will be selling on Amazon. Instead of having lower priced books I will have to stay within $10-$15 at the lowest instead of $6-$8 at my lowest. For some reason this is not registering for other sellers and, they are fed up with Amazon claiming they will go switch to ebay. I have been doing quite a bit of research and, ebay is not a bad place to sell although, I haven’t done enough research to really sell on ebay. I have tried to sell on ebay and, it was a bit of a bust so, research is necessary to sell at least for me. I also, need a niche when selling on ebay. It is a good idea not put all your money into one item or one place it should be spread out in case it does not work out. I have been only selling on Amazon FBA for two years seriously. I have a business plan set up for each year which, tells me how much I need to purchase of each category and, how much money I will need each month to do so. With not having a large amount it is quite difficult to accomplish but, I will talk about how I semi-support myself while trying to build up my Amazon sales in another blog post.   So, my strategy this year will be slightly different more expensive books for full price book sale, half price will be a little cheaper and, box day will be $10 books instead of $5-$8 books. Adjusting with the price change that happens every year is important especially with gas changes etc. Just like we have to adjust to the economy so do our businesses. So, if you are an FBA seller take a breath and, adjust as needed just like every year especially if you want to continue on with your business.

My Vegan Diary Day 1

Dear Diary,

It has been awhile since writing to you last and, I can’t wait to share what I have eaten. Since becoming vegan I have tried, tested and, made a lot of vegan food and, now that I feel I kind of have a grasp on the food part I jumped on the workout bandwagon. Yes, I do not like to admit that I let my workouts slip but, I did and, I am certainly paying the price. After making the mistake of thinking just because I am vegan I don’t have to work out as hard I have gained some unwanted lbs. Was I eating all whole foods? Haha, no I’m glad you mention that because it is good to be able to have more greasy vegan food or processed food but, I’m afraid my body does not really agree. I have been laying off the vegan “junk food” as much as possible and trying to carb the F up the right way. As you may have heard from one of my posts I joined the gym and, started swimming again! I am so happy to be back on track and rid myself of the evil unwanted extra fat. Today I swam for about 10 minutes, took a yoga class, and did zumba. Although, I am exhausted I feel fantastic. Let’s take a look at what I ate throughout my day.

Breakfast:

 I promised you all the recipe to this amazing nice cream on my instagram so, here it is.

Strawberry nice cream: Half a bag of frozen strawberries, 3-5 frozen bananas, and a little bit of almond milk. Blend in your food processor or blender until you get a creamy ice cream like consistency.

Chocolate nice cream: add a tablespoon or more depending on how chocolatey you want it to taste. The add 3-5 frozen bananas and blend untile you get the ice cream consistency.

Enjoy or add chia seed gel for a great topping. Look up how to soak chia seeds I am in the beginning stages of testing this.

I joined a gym?

Yes,

Hello loves, I have joined a gym but, not because of the gym equipment but, mainly because of the pool!! I will be starting my training to try to get my swimming back to where it should be. Today on my vlog I talked about moving my channel toward fitness and, ethical fashion. On my new YouTube Channel “Forever Seeking Wanderlust” I will be posting travel vlogs and ethical fashion videos. If you are a follower of allie vLuv don’t worry I will still be posting vlogs, hauls, makeup, and vegan videos. Back to the gym, well, I had enough with not being physically fit. I have a few knee problems and, Reflex Nerve dystrophy so, I want to ease back into really getting in shape. I used to be on the swim team when I was younger and, just swim a lot in general. I will start with getting back into swimmer shape and, work on my technic. Once I have been able to get myself to a solid 20-30 minute swim I will start to incorporate a challenge that I would to put on the YouTube Channel. I was watching a YouTube Channel I will link a video down below, and, he was doing 40 hours of working for the week. It gave me he idea of pushing myself to do 3 hour challenge and 1 hour every other week to build up resistance. I will have to be careful of running because of my knees I will have to build up fast walking/jog to a run. Once I have established a jog, longer swim I can start the 3 hour 2 week challenge and keep building that up until I reach my 40 hour goal. I realize that it will take me about a month to get myself back in semi-swimming ready. I also, want to be able to bike to the gym over this summer which will be amazing when that happens. The visual of riding my bike to the gym is inspirational in my mind and, I can not wait for that vision to come to life. What we manifest, we put out to the universe what we want and, in return the universe usually gives us what we would like. We have to want it, think about, pray about it (if you are religious), write about it, and act on it. Your positive acts, thoughts, and feeling will be contagious; it is the kind of contagion that I wish would spread throughout the world. I am very excited to peacefully transition into a healthier/fitter lifestyle. As I start to lose weight it will be captured on all of my videos. I plan on eating vegan, of course, but, I will either be fruitarian or rawtill4. I will be learning what my body fuels on best when working out more and, how much I will need to bring with me. I am thinking i will be incorporating more medjol dates, smoothies, bananas, and of course my favorites melons!! I just bought a cap for my hair so I can swim with ease, I already own a one piece bathing suit, and goggles. I know that bathing suit isn’t going to be so flattering but, in my mind I have gotten over myself and, focus on where I need to get my body in order to be healthier and, have a happier life. The Losing Game

I know summer is coming and, you all want to lose weight and fit into that bikini or those swim trunks but, what if I told you how to maintain that summertime body all year long? I am currently in the process of doing this and, I think it will be great for you all. As you know I have been vegan for a little over a year and, now with a grasp on the food part I can focus on the fitness. I will be taking a walk almost everyday along with yoga. I am going to try to stay as active as possible without tiring myself out.. The bike is the best way to lose weight and get into fitness! I have the bike and the rollers for inside the house when it is a rainy day or for the cold winter weather. Now, that it is getting into warmer weather I am so excited to try riding my bike for the first time in years. My goal is to ride 10-20 minutes on the weekends for the first two weeks and build myself up from there. Keeping active and, off the couch when my body has the energy and, staying on the couch or resting when my body doesn’t have the energy. I have found that there are keys to helping your body heal from the inside out and from the outside in! Listening to your body is number one if you need rest then rest and, I mean rest take a short 30 minute nap, read a book let your body chill it needs to repair itself. When you are bursting with energy use that energy do not let it go to waste move around whether it is; gardening, playing with your kids, walking in the park, playing a sport, volley ball at the beach, roller skating, ice skating, hiking, biking , the possibilities are endless! Do something out of your comfort zone and ride your bike to the park or walk to the park go zip lining. Go camping and hike while camping. It is really up to you where you body goes and, what it does so make sure you listen to it. The most important of all is what you are putting into your mouth that is what’s going to determine your bodies fate. You are what you eat and, if you are eating greasy junk you are going to feel like greasy junk. Pump your body with whole foods fruits, and veggies! These are what make you thrive in life and, I have noticed quite a change in my energy when I eat the proper amount of whole foods. It is extremely important for you to eat healthy and, in return your body will thank you for this by becoming healthier. There is no quick diet, trend, or fad that is going to help you achieve your long term goals. Freelee the banana girls older videos are a fantastic help when transitioning to becoming vegan and, she talks about everything! I really recommend binge watching her videos when she shows you what she eats in a day and how much you really do have to consume to be vegan. Now this dos not mean to eat over 3,000 calories and, sit on the couch everyday because that is not going to help you, you need to put in the work and find a form of “exercising” that you love. Once you find what motivates you to keep moving stick with it, incorporate it into your life, and then add something new in. Before you know it you will be a lean, happy, healthy, fit machine! My morning routine may help you on your journey to do what you love in life and, help you to wake up with positivity in the morning.

Wanderlust: Summer Palnning|Life Goals|Working Goals

Hello Loves,

This is going to prove to be an exciting summer with the prospect of growing all of my businesses and, a bit of traveling. Ahh, the thrill of the unknown and, new places to venture. Today, is a working/planning day for me as I need to increase my sales on Poshmark & Amazon. Along with those business goals I am also, trying to increase my views for my YouTube channel and of course my blog. With my new goals I am a little jumbled with how to get this all accomplished and, of course, intertwine my healthy life & helping the planet goals. Will all this on my mind, I have found I have become more exhausted and, have learned to listen to my body. One of the main reasons I am “trying” to work from home is because I do not have the energy for a normal 9 to 5 job. Some days I am thoroughly exhausted and I need a mid-day nap or a quick break. I am strategizing not only accomplishing my work goals but, taking my life & health goals into consideration. I would say most of the time we do not take care of ourselves and, it leads to health problems later on in life. I want to take care of myself now instead of 30 years down the road when I have worked myself down along with my health. Healing myself from the inside out is my main goal for my life right now. I follow many Vegan YouTubers and, when I wake up in the morning I look forward to watching their videos. Mel, from Raw Nourishment always seems to have the perfect video for what I need to hear that day. Her recent video about making a list and manifesting what you want in your life was just right. Although, her video was about her vegan boyfriend, that is not a high priority on my list this year because I am learning to heal my body, grow my businesses, and love the person I am. Each day I have grown to learn more about myself or my body and, it is fascinating. I no longer worry about what people think of me I am just myself and, I Love it. It is hard to express the change in the way I am because it is not  a physical change but, more of a self accepting change. I feel I have always been myself but, I feel I have actually embraced it. I am more determined and focused to accomplish my goals and aspirations. I am self aware and aware of the disturbance we are putting our planet through. Recently, I have talked about ethical clothing and moving my Poshmark closet into an ethical clothing closet and, possibly my own boutique. Growing my businesses helps me to grow as a person and move forward in my life. In the next two years I would like to get my own place and, travel. To be able to travel & get my own place I need to work ten times harder and longer to accomplish that. I think that everything that I need to get done I will and, my life will fold out when I least expect it to. Let me know how you are feeling and, if you have become enlightened within yourself. Travelers And Why Society Is Holding Us Back

By now I’m sure you know that I view life in a very different way then others. I have no intention of settling down any time soon and am not settling for a life of grief, burden, stress, and worry. Actually, you could take away all electronics and, I would be perfectly fine although, I would miss writing my blog posts and, filming for my YouTube Channel. I miss finding everyday of life an adventure and, that is were I am headed with my life. I want excitement, adventure, and most importantly fun! I don’t want to bored by everyday conversation but, actually talk to people who are filled with life. You have been probably told, “get serious and, figure out where you want you life to be.” Yes, in fact that is probably why you went to college and are most likely in a shit-ton of debt… I went to a community college and was lucky enough to get financial aid, scholarship money, and have my parents pay the leftover expenses. I did well and maintained a 3.9-3.75 GPA at Brookdale which is why I was able to get some scholarship money. I was not the smartest student in the room but, I was one of the most determined. When one professor asked who wanted to be a (a word relating to global sensation right now I am having word block) I was one of two students to raise my hand. I thought wow we have the opportunity to one day become a global sensation and, I was one of two people who wanted that. I have always wanted to have the freedom of owning my own business but, it also becomes a great responsibility if you are the boss of others. I don’t know if I will end up owning a company or creating my own products but, I sure hope I am. Well, I have since graduated with an associate’s degree in fashion merchandising. Now, I am blogging, making YouTube videos editing them, have my Poshmark closet, an FBA seller on Amazon, and a freelancer. Now, you think that would be enough jobs for society but, nope. I either get an expression simulating ” you are going to go nowhere with this and, eventually will need to get a “real” job or you get the, ” that sounds like a really cool job and, a million questions.” I guess the only way to be taken serious is to start making a boat load of money and, then just travel when I want. I mean wouldn’t that be the logical choice or would me buying a large mansion prove that I have “made it” in society’s eyes. Guess what, I am not looking for “society’s” approval for how I have chosen to live my life. I am no longer looking through a glass window as an observer, I no longer want to stand aside, I want to live. I am looking to live. Most of us are looking to live and experience life but, are too afraid to do what is necessary to get there. This year I am looking to make $1,000/month save $500 and the rest for traveling! I want to live as many places as possible to see if I actually like it! No, I don’t want to randomly move somewhere permanently and decide I hate where I am living. I do know that I am not a fan of winter but, I want to continue Amazon so, I will have to be in NJ from January-October. Yes, that only gives me three months to live somewhere else and, I will not avoid all the NJ cold weather; I’m ok with that as long as I have the experience of living different places three months out of the year. It is similar to a vacation but, it is also, important to me so, I end up living somewhere I love and thrive in. Right now I have nothing tying me down except, not having enough money… When I think about it, it’s not a problem because if I work harder on my Blog, YouTube Channel, Poshmark, and Amazon I have no doubt that I can make it happen! My first goal is Italy, I have talked about Italy for years but, this time I am serious. My brother is going back in November and, I want to go and, travel for two weeks. That is the first place to save up for the plane ticket, food, some extra travel costs and, to stay somewhere. He volunteers at a Place called Casa Cares’ so, as long as I volunteer there I can get food and, a room for free! I think it is the perfect place to set my eyes on. So, why do we let society hold us back from what we truly want to do?

What The Hell Is A #Veggan?

#Veggan is popping up all over social media and no, it is not Vegan spelled wrong. This poses the question “What The Hell Is #Veggan? Well, it is a vegan that eats eggs or, that is what the trend is. If only these Veggans knew there is already a name for them ovo-vegetarians. It is interesting that these Veggans think that vegganthey have tapped into a new market. Vegans are plant based and do not eat products derived from animals, this includes, meat, dairy, and eggs. Based on my research the fitness industry is trying to make some coin from this term. It is fitness enthusiast who are wanting to go vegan but, are afraid that are not going to get enough protein. Oh loves, do we not realize how much protein you are getting from a plant-based lifestyle? I will be doing a whole post on protein and why none vegans are so worried about us getting        enough protein. My response is to please do you research before you question the vegan lifestyle. True Vegans will never be eating eggs so, these egg eaters can call themselves what they want because they are only helping the Vegan message to be spread. Veganism is thought to be the cool/trendy way to eat but, for most of us it is about healthy and ethical living. I will post some YouTube Channels down below to help you better understand Vegans and Raw Vegans. Lets spread the #Vegan message and help those who are a bit confused at what Veganism actually is.
