Day 1 Of Meal Prepping & Working Out

Day 1

Dear Healthy Life,

While I can say today went interestingly… It has been awful weather here with the constant rain which, has been exhausting me. I actually have a B12 deficiency and, haven’t been able to get my B12 shot in 3 months because it took that long to renew my insurance. So, I finally got it and, I am actually feeling much better after a few hours after being injected. Rewind to this morning when my alarm went off for 7 a.m. joke was on me because I woke and, felt like I hadn’t slept in over a week. I didn’t even hit snooze I turned that alarm off and, went right to sleep. I woke up around 10 a.m. still completely exhausted. I threw on my robe and, headed downstairs at about 11 a.m. did yoga which was amazing and, made my first smoothie of the day after. I chowed down on that and, had my snack of celery and m homemade peanutbutter at around 12 p.m. While eating my snack I worked on my freelance article and, finished at about 2:30 p.m. By then  was so hungry I couldn’t wait to have lunch!  Lunch was half a piece of Ezekiel bread, 1 cup cucumber, 1/4 cup of chickpeas, alfalfa sprouts, red onion and, I put a little vegan mayo on the bread because I didn’t want balsamic dressing on my sandwhich.  Still unable to shake off being tired I head downstairs to rest and recover. At about 4 p.m. I had my second smoothie with some frozen mango, 1 banana, almond milk and, a scoop of vegan protein powder. Before I ate the smoothie I had two pieces of vegan quinoa chocolate ( not part of the meal planning). This smoothie was one of the most filling things I had all day and, I didn’t eat until about 7:20 p.m. My mom had called and, said she wanted to have a movie night with me and, that I should rest. I was planning on going to zumba but, probably would have been a terrible idea seeing that even speaking to her was making me tired. For dinner I had two small corn tortillas, 3/4 a cup of vegetarian refried beans (they were vegan as well), 1 cup of lettuce, salsa and, 1/4 avocado. Then during the movie I had popcorn that I popped with vegan butter and, some black licorice. Now, in hindsight probably could have had less licorice but, over all I think I did pretty well. I may have to add a little more food but, I can say I was satisfied after my dinner. Over the next couple of weeks I will be working out a lot more so, stay tuned to hear about that. Overall I am pleased and, very grateful for the B12 shot otherwise I would need to live somewhere that has sunshine all the time! I wouldn’t be opposed to living in a very sunny place but, it is N.J. for now. And, a dreary season ahead. I hope with working out, eating well and, taking the correct vitamins that my energy level will be back up where it needs to be. Oh, I got the article all edited and, sent it a few minutes ago in case you all were wondering. It is currently 10:53 p.m. and, I am going to watch a few YouTube videos and, get to bed. Hoping to get a lot of Amazin, Poshmark and, ebay work done tomorrow as well as, laundry, office cleaning, room cleaning and, possibly cleaning the shower.. Which reminds me that I need to get in a shower tomorrow and, get myself ready for the day. I find that if I do my hair/makeup and, get dressed like I would be going to work it motivates me to make my day that much more productive. Hopefully tomorrow I will write that I accomplish everything on my list.

Sweet Dreams,

10 Ways To Stay Motivated To Get Fit

Hello Loves,

I will be beginning my meal prep and, workout journey this Sunday and, I am beyond excited. As you know from my previous post I will be going to Arizona in 48 days which is about five weeks away! I am so excited and, I have come up with ten ways to keep myself and you motivated! Of course, I will be continuing my weight loss journey after Arizona but, if I could drop 15-30 pounds in five weeks I am going to give it my all! I have tried something similar before but, never with this intense of a meal prep and, workout plan. When I’m all in, I am all in!

  1. Have a place where you check in and, hold yourself accountable

I use my YouTube Channel, Blog and, instagram @thatsabangsfitme to check in and, hold myself accountable. Try using your social media to keep you in check.

2. Plan all your food and, workouts ahead of time

Planning is super important to me especially because I have so many different jobs that I actually don’t have spare time to rummage through the pantry to see what I will be eating, this is a bad habit for me. I never plan for my food and, am always in a pickle about what to eat. As a vegan it is important for me to prep my meals ahead of time so, I know how many calories I will be getting a day as well as, nutrients. Workouts are important to schedule out as well because you can work on different parts of your body to help you gain strength as well as, lose fat. It took me two days to plan out all of my meals and, workout for the next 45 days. It is well worth it and, less time consuming in the long run.

3. Get New Workout Gear That Fits

No, do not buy clothes that you think you are eventually going to get into, been there done that and, it is a bit depressing especially if you haven’t actually taken the time to meal and workout prep. Don’t leave yourself in a disappointed state get something that fits. Workout gear needs to be tighter so, it is not falling down, getting caught etc. while you are working out. A few new workout outfits can help inspire you to keep at it. I have bought workout clothing from Prana an ethical clothing site or, from thrift stores/Poshmark if you are on a very tight budget like myself. Also, buy proper footwear for what you are going to be doing do not wear walking shoes to a zumba class and, vice versa. Do not set yourself up for failure.

4. Pop On Those Tunes

Create a playlist on Spotify, Pandora or, YouTube for the morning. When I wake up I like to listen to energetic music that will put me in a positive mindset.   Create a few playlist for different workouts and, switch out your music. Listen to music that inspires you, brings you joy and, keeps you motivated. So, pop on your headphones hit play and, have a five-ten minute jam session before work/school/or at home stuff.

5. Create A goal & Journal

Some of the ways I stay motivated is setting goals for the week. I will set a certain amount of steps or, to smash a certain yoga move. I will also, journal about my day or, how I am feeling which, I usually do on my blog or YouTube. Writing is always a motivation for me. What kind of goals do you want to accomplish for the week write out a list and, check it off when you accomplish your goals. If you don’t want to write on any social media including a blog or make videos on a YouTube get a journal and, write it down. If you take 10 minutes out of your day when you need to release some emotions make sure you write it down.

6. Set a morning workout

When I mean morning I mean something like yoga that will stimulate the mind and, muscles while also, giving you a sense of calm. You can try meditation or a stretching workout that won’t be overwhelming to your morning while still waking up your body.

7. Your Phone Is Probably Attached To Your Hand

If you love quotes like me then, this should really move you to get working. Set an uplifting and, motivational quote as your lock screen or home screen. You can also, write a quote and, set an alarm 30 minutes to an hour before your workout. This will motivate you to continue and, complete your workout.

8. Make Your Workouts Fun

This is something I have learned for myself I will push myself to complete a workout I hate but, I won’t repeat it to often. If you are already having trouble getting yourself to do a workout you do not want to do anything else to discourage yourself. Pre watch workouts and, see if you would actually enjoy doing it. Toss in 3 workouts that you love into your routine because why should you do a workout you simply hate. If you are a beginner to working out try simpler workouts for beginners. It also, helps to go to the gym and, workout in classes with other people. Once, I hear the music I get so pumped and, always have a great group workout. Make sure you mix up your workouts so your body doesn’t get used to it and, you don’t get bored. Every now and, then throw in a workout you might not like and, make it your goal to be able to do the whole workout by the end of the month. You have to build up your body strength do not get upset if you can’t do a push-up eventually you will be able to but, you must work at it. I am in the process of working on my upper body strength so, I will be able to do more than one push-up.

9. Eat Creatively

The worst mistake you can make is having the same two meals every week. Your body will eventually have a bunch of cravings and, you will have trouble eating it after awhile. I always recommend eating vegan and, I have found some great and, adventurous meal preps from this YouTuber:

10. After a month or two buy yourself a new outfit

Show off your amazing bod to all your friends and, family in a new outfit. Praise for what we have accomplished is always inspiring and, keeps us going. Once the compliments start coming make that your inspiration to push that much harder! 70% Of your work starts in the kitchen with what you are eating and, 20% is work you put into those workouts. Remember you are in charge of yourself and, you can do it! I will be here to hopefully inspire you all through this amazing transformation and, journey. It is not only physical but, a mental transition. You can, you will!

21 Day Meal Prep

Hello Loves,

Well starting Monday I will be meal prepping and, I already planned out all of my workouts. As some of you may know, I have been really preparing to lose a good amount of weight from 30-40 pounds and, I took two days to sit down and meal prep as well as, write out a full fitness schedule. Yes, that is a long time but, I have a feeling that it will be well worth the time that it took me. I will be going to Arizona in the beginning of March and I was hoping to go anywhere from fifteen to twenty pounds lighter. I am so excited to see family friends, my friend and, the Grand Canyon! I love traveling and, being able to buy a ticket was super exciting. Now with even more motivation to shed those pounds I sat down and, worked out a schedule. I have one rest and, everyday I have two workouts and, always have either yoga or stretching as part of the two workouts. I think I balanced out everything well when it came to the workout schedule. I also, planned my meals with the help of Pinterest the meals for the first 21 days are around 1,500 calories. Yes, I know there is this whole debate about getting 2,000 calories a day which most of the time I have trouble consuming. I am still getting used to getting all the right nutrients and, protein after three years of being vegan and, meal prepping was a way to ensure that I would be having very healthy food that would sustain me. If I am feeling hungrier I can always eat something this is not to starve myself just so, I can gauge the calories and, see what works best for me. My job is very sedentary requiring me to sit a lot which is why my calorie intact is going to be a bit smaller. If I was riding a bike around town all day then yes, I would probably need over 2,500 calories but, since I’m not I am going to test this out and, see if it works well. I have my shopping list ready to go for Sunday and, will be meal prepping Sunday for 21 days. I have never made food for this amount of days but, I am really excited to see where this brings me. I will keep you updated throughout this series with one to two posts a week possibly on how the food is tasting, if I needed to alter the diet,  how the exercising is going, emotions of the process etc… Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Have an enlightening and adventurous day,

Fitness Update & Cleaning Up My Eating

Hello Loves,

I have been pursuing my fitness journey for some time now. I have been going to the gym and, working out at home. I have slacked a bit on working out at home which is something I am trying to get together. I just cleaned my beautiful room so, I will be able to do a lot more workouts. I am thinking that I will put together a little food plan for myself to have my meals all ready and, switch up the workouts every week. I think February is when I will start my swimming back up which will be a process and, I will probably start small like can I swim straight for 5 minutes which sounds ridiculous but, it will take me awhile to build my swimming stamina back up. Today will be my planning day since I got a lot accomplished over this weekend which, allows me the time to plan a bit. I have been resting quite a bit this weekend as well because I felt that I needed. It is also, hard to get sleep sometimes when pet sitting so, I would wake up let the dog out feed it and, then sleep a little more. Below is a video I did which shows a workout I have been doing and, a body fitness update. I hope you all enjoy it please let me know if you have any topics you want to discuss in the comments below. Planning I go…

Have an enlightening and adventurous day,

allie

I joined a gym?

Yes,

Hello loves, I have joined a gym but, not because of the gym equipment but, mainly because of the pool!! I will be starting my training to try to get my swimming back to where it should be. Today on my vlog I talked about moving my channel toward fitness and, ethical fashion. On my new YouTube Channel “Forever Seeking Wanderlust” I will be posting travel vlogs and ethical fashion videos. If you are a follower of allie vLuv don’t worry I will still be posting vlogs, hauls, makeup, and vegan videos. Back to the gym, well, I had enough with not being physically fit. I have a few knee problems and, Reflex Nerve dystrophy so, I want to ease back into really getting in shape. I used to be on the swim team when I was younger and, just swim a lot in general. I will start with getting back into swimmer shape and, work on my technic. Once I have been able to get myself to a solid 20-30 minute swim I will start to incorporate a challenge that I would to put on the YouTube Channel. I was watching a YouTube Channel I will link a video down below, and, he was doing 40 hours of working for the week. It gave me he idea of pushing myself to do 3 hour challenge and 1 hour every other week to build up resistance. I will have to be careful of running because of my knees I will have to build up fast walking/jog to a run. Once I have established a jog, longer swim I can start the 3 hour 2 week challenge and keep building that up until I reach my 40 hour goal. I realize that it will take me about a month to get myself back in semi-swimming ready. I also, want to be able to bike to the gym over this summer which will be amazing when that happens. The visual of riding my bike to the gym is inspirational in my mind and, I can not wait for that vision to come to life. What we manifest, we put out to the universe what we want and, in return the universe usually gives us what we would like. We have to want it, think about, pray about it (if you are religious), write about it, and act on it. Your positive acts, thoughts, and feeling will be contagious; it is the kind of contagion that I wish would spread throughout the world. I am very excited to peacefully transition into a healthier/fitter lifestyle. As I start to lose weight it will be captured on all of my videos. I plan on eating vegan, of course, but, I will either be fruitarian or rawtill4. I will be learning what my body fuels on best when working out more and, how much I will need to bring with me. I am thinking i will be incorporating more medjol dates, smoothies, bananas, and of course my favorites melons!! I just bought a cap for my hair so I can swim with ease, I already own a one piece bathing suit, and goggles. I know that bathing suit isn’t going to be so flattering but, in my mind I have gotten over myself and, focus on where I need to get my body in order to be healthier and, have a happier life. Are you all excited to follow me on my journey, what are some post you would like to see, do you want me to do a weekly diary of how I am doing what I eat and, how I am coping with this new workout schedule. I am a little nervous, determined, excited, and motivated lets get it! This journey is amazing….

Have an enlightening and adventurous day,

allie

The Losing Game

I know summer is coming and, you all want to lose weight and fit into that bikini or those swim trunks but, what if I told you how to maintain that summertime body all year long? I am currently in the process of doing this and, I think it will be great for you all. As you know I have been vegan for a little over a year and, now with a grasp on the food part I can focus on the fitness. I will be taking a walk almost everyday along with yoga. I am going to try to stay as active as possible without tiring myself out.. The bike is the best way to lose weight and get into fitness! I have the bike and the rollers for inside the house when it is a rainy day or for the cold winter weather. Now, that it is getting into warmer weather I am so excited to try riding my bike for the first time in years. My goal is to ride 10-20 minutes on the weekends for the first two weeks and build myself up from there. Keeping active and, off the couch when my body has the energy and, staying on the couch or resting when my body doesn’t have the energy. I have found that there are keys to helping your body heal from the inside out and from the outside in! Listening to your body is number one if you need rest then rest and, I mean rest take a short 30 minute nap, read a book let your body chill it needs to repair itself. When you are bursting with energy use that energy do not let it go to waste move around whether it is; gardening, playing with your kids, walking in the park, playing a sport, volley ball at the beach, roller skating, ice skating, hiking, biking , the possibilities are endless! Do something out of your comfort zone and ride your bike to the park or walk to the park go zip lining. Go camping and hike while camping. It is really up to you where you body goes and, what it does so make sure you listen to it. The most important of all is what you are putting into your mouth that is what’s going to determine your bodies fate. You are what you eat and, if you are eating greasy junk you are going to feel like greasy junk. Pump your body with whole foods fruits, and veggies! These are what make you thrive in life and, I have noticed quite a change in my energy when I eat the proper amount of whole foods. It is extremely important for you to eat healthy and, in return your body will thank you for this by becoming healthier. There is no quick diet, trend, or fad that is going to help you achieve your long term goals. Freelee the banana girls older videos are a fantastic help when transitioning to becoming vegan and, she talks about everything! I really recommend binge watching her videos when she shows you what she eats in a day and how much you really do have to consume to be vegan. Now this dos not mean to eat over 3,000 calories and, sit on the couch everyday because that is not going to help you, you need to put in the work and find a form of “exercising” that you love. Once you find what motivates you to keep moving stick with it, incorporate it into your life, and then add something new in. Before you know it you will be a lean, happy, healthy, fit machine! My morning routine may help you on your journey to do what you love in life and, help you to wake up with positivity in the morning.

Check out this music it has become on of my favorite albums to lisen to if I want to stay calm or need some positivity in my life:

Pump That System

The lymphatic system is a system that is very important but, on almost no ones mind. To be able to give a broader view on the topic I have done some research in order to be as accurate as I can possibly be about the topic. I am not a doctor nor am I in the medical field and, I am learning about the lymphatic system which, I thought was important for you all to learn a little bit from me and then do research on your own. The inspiration for this post is from Lani Jane’s e-book which I will link below. She brings up some great topics as well as, has yummy raw vegan recipes. The lymphatic system is extremely important to the body because it helps it get rid of toxins, waste, and unwanted materials. The fluid getting filtered through the blood becomes clean because of the lymphatic system. The lymphocytes are fighters to the war against potential invaders. The lymphatic system helps to fight infections with a “…fluid containing infection fighting white blood cells, throughout the body”(livescience.com). It is important to pump that system because it only pumps through movement, you need to break a sweat and, get red in the face. Let’s get educated and learn about our body so we can heal it from the inside out and, the outside in. Continue to heal your body and, show it love.

  • Anything with chemicals or that is toxic toss it, it is not worth it
  • Get enough sleep and, listen to your body
  • Move around throughout the day
  • Take long walks in the park and breath in the fresh air
  • cycling is also, excellent
  • Of course you need to exercise but, it doesn’t have to be boring find something that you love to do and keep at 3-7 days a week
  • Drink lots of water and add some fruit such as lemon, berries etc.
  • If you have a trampoline that is highly recommended
  • Do vigorous exercising 1-2 a week
  • I do yoga everyday which helps me remember to breath ( when I miss a yoga practice I notice a difference in my day)
  • Working with you body is so important we forget to listen and, follow through with what our body needs and, wants

Have an enlightening and adventurous day,

Working Out & Throwing Up?

Ciao Tutti,

Yesterday in my Instagram post I said I would explain in further detail about why I get sick working out so, here it is! I decided to do a plyometric bootcamp workout and I felt so sick with about ten minutes to go. Background to me getting sick is that I have low blood pressure and, I get over heated. Great combination right?! When I do floor exercises like burpees etc. I always feel like I am going to throw up. Yesterday, there were a few burpees but, I chose to not do them as I know, they are big triggers of me feeling sick; I did a few floor exercises including planks. While doing the planks I was fine then bam, right after that the dizziness/nausea set in. Oh great, I can’t even finish the workout which almost always happens… I get to the bathroom place a cool wash cloth on the back on my neck, position myself by the toilet, sip coconut water, and hope for the best. I sat there for about ten minutes feeling absolutely horrible and then, I started to feel better. I slowly got myself up and proceeded to go downstairs and make myself dinner. I then recalled that I had forgotten to eat something substantial an hour/hour and a half before working out. I did not have enough energy to burn off because I didn’t eat enough. My blood pressure defiantly dropped but, I’m wondering if my blood sugar dropped as well. I used to use Gatorade for this problem now I use electrolyte water and coconut water. They are both healthier options and work just as well. Bringing you back to when I was in high school I used to have to have salt during the day because my blood pressure would randomly drop ( it was not a pleasant feeling). Now I keep pretzels next to my bed and, it happens less, now usually when working out. I have to remember to eat enough to sustain myself especially when I am going to work out. As a vegan, sometimes I am full and I forget to continue to eat until dinner. Today, I made conscious effort to eat as soon as I woke up and, throughout the day when I was filming. I filmed a taste test and vegan haul so, I had a little bite of sweets and savory snacks before doing a lighter workout today. My goal is to eat around 2,400 calories and, workout about 2-3 times a day. I would like to get back into my workout routine not only to be healthy and get in shape but, to help my RND as well. RND is reflex nerve dystrophy which is a disconnection with your brain and nerves if, you want I will explain about that and my experience in another post. The only way to help RND is to workout to help your nerves try to connect properly. I was in a program where I was working out about 5 hours a day with specific therapies to help RND patients that was a few years ago. For now, one workout a day and hopefully yoga in the morning or at night. I hope you enjoyed my little story feel free to comment below!
Have an enlightening an adventurous day,

Fit Me All Insecure

Ciao Tutti,

All I can think about while writing this post is the Mad TV skit “Can I Have Your Number,” when the guy says ” don’t be insecure girl, own that ponytail, work that up do.” Yes, this has us rolling on the floor with laughter but, unfortunately we all have our insecurities which is usual wrapped up with our fears.( If you have never seen the skit get to YouTube and watch it, it is well worth your time). My insecurity has to do with my body image and how I perceive myself, although I am bursting with confidence, at some points I don’t feel so secure about my body. The post that I actually put up today ” Raid My Closet: On $0″ was a mental block I needed to get past. I do not need to be what I feel my perfect size, image, body weight is because I know I am striving to be my best. This week I start a whole new workout plan for myself and I am not going to dwell over it. It is just going to be part of my life and that is how you all can incorporate your workouts as well. I know that you as the reader, would benefit from my post about how to shop your wardrobe therefore, I did it! It is still with the same motivation that you all need, I need as well. This is always a work in progress, to achieve complete confidence with myself but, I dress in a way that shows off my confidence. Fashion is my way of artistically expressing myself as well as, this blog, and my YouTube Channel. Now, I can exude my creativity and not on someone else’s watch but, on my own. So, what I am trying to say is, don’t stop yourself from doing what you love! This life is your own and you only get one chance so, take the reins because this is going to be one hell of a ride!

Have an enlightening and adventurous day,

Fit Me Holiday Hunny Week 2

Ciao Tutti,

I hope to find you all well this week and to let you know I have found a few new YouTube workouts that I am trying to conquer. This one video I found is for your gluts and abdominals although, it is only a ten minute video I have yet to get through all ten minutes. I know, this sounds crazy…. but, the video is really that hard. I also, have been neglecting working out and am starting to slowly make my way back into it. I have started little routines for yoga, kick boxing, and then incorporating specific body part workouts such as, the one I was explaining about previously. My new series will be coming into place called “What is in that?” I plan to go through an entire menu of all fast food restaurants and help you figure out what you are actually consuming. Along with this will come recommended food to consume as well as, workouts that I am loving each week. Getting back into my workout routine is especially hard when I have a messy workout area. So, my challenge to you is start cleaning your workout areas and get ready to bust a move because we will motivate each other to get into it. I have never regretted a workout but, I have regretted not working out. Do not forget to follow @thatsabangsfitme. Tag me and we can inspire each other to get into the workout groove.

Have an enlightening and adventurous day,
